Sure, I’d rather have awakened in New Jersey to spend Christmas with my family. But, since I couldn’t be there, I was perfectly content waking up here on Tybee Island.
Yesterday I was walking in Savannah in jeans and a T-shirt. This morning it was thirty-two degrees and I could hear the wind gusting outside the motel. Sure, I packed for this just in case. But, still...
From my walk out to the beach...
That thick wall of clouds on the horizon was either going to make or break this morning’s show...
Many of us have seen the occasional dolphin swimming along. Usually, all you see it the fin...
Finally, the sun starts poking through the clouds...
Long story short, I cut the loop down to about five miles. You can tell by the low number of photos I just wasn’t feeling it, though the walk did feel good.
In the end, I holed up in the room with some coffee for a while, venturing out again in the late afternoon for a potential sunset, stopping to watch a few kite flyers.
With the kites in constant potion, it took a while to get the framing right with the moon in the shot, too.
Yeah, just a little bit windy...

It was twenty-four degrees when I ventured out for sunrise. Colder, but the wind was gone. That made all the difference.
Time to pack the car and head for home. I got off I-75 in Forsyth to take the back roads home. Just two blocks off downtown, I stopped into the Fox City Brewing Company for a pint and an early lunch. Since it wasn't even noon, the place was pretty quiet. All in all, a good way to end a roadtrip.

PS: As of right now, I have nothing booked for travel. I've rolled the bones a lot this year with Covid-19 out there, and have no idea when I'll be able to get vaccinated. If everything goes as planned, I'll be heading to Michigan in June. As soon as it's safe, I really do need to get to Maryland to see Mom. I feel fortunate I was able to visit just before things started getting crazy. There are also some friends I haven't been able to see in far too long. Crossing my fingers for 2021!
