April Roadtrip, The Rest of the Trip and the Road Home

The whole purpose of this trip was to spend a week and a half with Mom.  As an added bonus, Maryland was in bloom.

Of course, it wouldn't be a visit to Mom's without a few shots of deer.  One morning, as we lingered over breakfast, a herd of five crossed the property.  Some stayed outside the fence, while others just hopped right over.

Saturday, April 17

With the drive north comes the inevitable drive back south.  It's about 770 miles door to door, which makes for a very long day.

It all began with a sunrise...

I rolled out of Mom's driveway at 8A, next stop...home.

Back a ways, this was all one large turkey farm.  Thus, when you pull out of the subdivision, you're on Turkey Foot Road.  That was a long time ago.  But, I did see a wild turkey alongside the road.  Seeing one isn't that unique.  But, what it did I had never seen before.  I obviously started the turkey.  With a great flurry of flapping wings, it took flight, crossed the road in front of me and landed on the other side safe and sound.  If only I had bought a dash cam when I was thinking about it.

The drive home was pretty easy, with the usual slowdowns in the usual places.  For some odd reason, everything always grinds to a halt passing through Fredericksburg, Virginia.  Get past that and it's speed limit conditions all the way home.

A sure sign you're back in Georgia...

Passing through downtown Atlanta, the conditions seemed pretty good for a nice sunset.

I shot this while waiting at the light by the Union City Kroger.

I ran inside for a few things, came out and waited...

Just for fun, I dug out the zoom lens...

With the light show starting to fade, it was time to head home.  The bright colors faded into pastels as I drove the last stretch home.

All in all, a good trip, but it was so nice to just be home.

PS: I'm off the road for a bit, with no set plans for a while.  But, you know me, I'll always find somewhere to go.
