Day 8
Saturday June 9, 2018
There was
plenty of time before I had to head out for the ferry. I considered a revisit to the previous day’s
trails, or even the lower lake trail.
But, as I sat in the hotel lobby with some coffee, the rain just kept
coming. It’s one thing to get caught in
the rain, then come back to the room for a hot shower. It’s another to get caught in it, then sit in
a ferry for five hours.
Instead, I hung
out in the lobby, venturing forth once to try and shoot the low clouds on the
mountains, all the time ducking under one overhang or another.
The hotel has a
bag check room, as well as an attendant.
So, I left my stuff with him and went to lunch at the local
Italian/Mexican place. Decent food, but
nothing special. However, something
happened at the restaurant that would have consequences back in Juneau.
So, I could hang
out in the lobby, or take the walk to the ferry terminal and hang out
there. The only difference, there’s no
wifi in the ferry lobby, or in the ferry for that matter. I know, first world problems.
Coming up,
Bears, definitely not where I expected them
