The original forecast for the day called for chilly with gusty wind. When I woke up and checked, the gusty winds were no longer a factor. It made for the perfect day to tackle a long hike in Bryce Canyon National Park.
The trail I chose was an eight mile loop starting in a place they call Fairyland Canyon.
The trail reviews agreed it's easy to follow, has great scenery and is definitely a workout. With that in mind, I finished my coffee in the truck, loaded the day pack and hit the trail shortly after 8:30A. At 48 degrees, it was perfect.
But first, the lookout by the parking lot.
From there, you follow the Rim Trail for two and a half miles. It's an easy incline and a fabulous view. The Rim Trail runs eleven miles from end to end.
At the Fairyland Loop junction, things start to really get interesting as the trail heads down to the bottom of the canyon.
At about the halfway point, there's a short side trail to something they call Tower Bridge, for obvious reasons.
There's just something about doing eight miles and finally seeing the overlook railing off in the distance. Even better to eventually get there and finally shuck off the pack.
And of course, one last look from the railing...
Perhaps it was too much time in the sun. Perhaps it was the exertion. But, I was just spent. This from the All Trails app...
