On the drive east from Lakehurst, the weather guessers were talking about a soggy Sunday. This was confirmed when I awoke. The radar map had something big and nasty on the west side of the state and it was headed my way. I did make it out to the boardwalk about a half hour before sunrise. With no hint of color and the rain beginning to splatter, I just turned around. The good news, it was supposed to clear by evening. Sunset perhaps?
A few years ago, I was staying Pt. Pleasant, but taking a day trip into the city to have lunch with my sister. On the train, I met Diane. We've kept in touch since, but haven't been able to meet up since. This time it all worked out and we met at a restaurant called the Shrimp Box. Inside the door, there's a plaque on the wall at light switch level. It shows the flood level from 2012's Superstorm Sandy.
The rain was pretty steady on the drive over, with gusting winds. It was the perfect day to linger inside with a good friend and catch up. The view from the restaurant window.
Diane had something she had to do, so eventually we did say good-bye in the parking lot after lingering some more. She drove off, I dug out the camera.
A Ghost Story
